Increasing incidence of invasive nontyphoidal Salmonella infections in Queensland, Australia, 2007-2016.

The Number of people infected by Salmonella is increasing in Queensland. From 2007 to 2016, the incident ratio rate of salmonella disease was estimated using Poisson regression. Males, infants and elderly people particularly had a higher rate of disease. There was an overall 6~5% annual increase, so the investigation on risk factors is required.

Being Bilingual is Good for the Brain

It is very beneficial to speak more than one language, because it may assist you to achieve a higher math score, earn a higher salary and accept other cultures. Additionally, scientists have scaled that it contributes positively towards our memory, decision making, and preventing Alzheimer’s disease. Speaking multiple languages also promotes brain activity resulting in focused thought and problem solving, and it can delay dementia which may be affected by their ability to switch between tasks.

The pie graph and the bar graph above show that majority of Australian speak English, and there are also other minority languages spoken including Mandarin Chinese, Italian, Arabic, Greek and Cantonese.

New York county bans unvaccinated minors in public as measles spreads

Summary:
In Rockland Country, more than 150 people are infected by measles. Children under 18, who are not vaccinated, are restricted from entering crowded public spaces. Executive Day mentioned  that this law was not intended to arrest people, but to make them realize how significant the matter is. Sussman from civil rights said that the law is irrational and suggested to separate people who are actually sick.
